Iai Lesson At Samurai Hotel Naraai-sou, we offer samurai-themed events. You can enjoy experiences such as iaido (sword drawing), movie-style sword fighting (tate) filming, and kimono dressing. We also host seasonal events throughout the year.

Iai Experience


Iai Lesson

Iaido (Samurai Sword) Experience – 90 minutes Price: ¥5,000 per person(¥-2000 for the guest) An immersive introduction to the physical techniques and spiritual philosophy of the samurai. Program includes: • Wearing a traditional hakama and training uniform • Explanation of basic etiquette and posture • Practice of four fundamental Iaido forms (Shoden) suitable for beginners • Discussion on Bushido philosophy and samurai mindset • Photo session upon request No prior experience is required. This program is suitable for beginners.

Shogun’s Matcha Tea Ceremony

Shogun’s Matcha – Authentic Tea Ceremony Experience – 90 minutes Price: ¥7,000 per person(¥-2000 for the guest) A refined tea ceremony experience using matcha historically presented to the Shogun during the Edo period. Program includes: • Grinding matcha using a traditional stone mill • Introduction to tea ceremony etiquette and philosophy • Hands-on experience preparing and enjoying matcha • Historical explanation of Shogunal tea culture • A quiet moment to enjoy tea in a calm setting Chairs are available for guests who find sitting on the floor difficult. Kimono Walking & Photo Session

Kimono Dressing Experience – approx. 120 minutes Price: ¥13,000 per person(¥-2000 for the guest) Experience the beauty and grace of traditional Japanese culture by wearing an authentic kimono. Our experienced instructor will assist you with the dressing process while explaining the meaning and role of each layer and accessory. Once dressed, you may stroll through the historic streets of Narai-juku, a beautifully preserved post town from the Edo period, and enjoy taking memorable photographs surrounded by traditional scenery. This is a wonderful opportunity to feel like a true samurai lady or gentleman for a day. Program includes: * Kimono dressing with professional assistance * Explanation of kimono layers, accessories, and cultural significance * Free time to walk and take photos in Narai-juku * Suitable for 2 to 4 participants per session No prior experience is required. This experience is suitable for beginners and first-time kimono wearers.
