Detail of Iai-Jutsu Lesson

Iai Lesson

In our Iaido and Kenjutsu experience, you will have the opportunity to learn Muso Jikiden Eishin-ryu Iaido. All equipment and uniforms are provided, so you can participate empty-handed and with ease. This is a great chance to experience traditional Japanese culture in a relaxed and accessible way.

The course lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes and includes fundamental movements such as drawing and sheathing the sword, proper etiquette, and basic sword techniques using a wooden sword.

At the end of the experience, you will receive an official certificate. Why not make it a memorable part of your journey in Japan?

Iai Lesson You will begin by learning proper etiquette and how to wear the sword, followed by the basics of drawing (nukit?) and sheathing (n?t?) the sword. You'll also practice fundamental techniques. Sheathing the sword, in particular, is more difficult than it looks ? we invite you to enjoy the challenge of mastering these skills and experiencing what it feels like to become a samurai.

Please note: Since there are different sizes of uniforms and swords, kindly inform us of your height when making a reservation. For the experience, we recommend wearing comfortable clothes such as a T-shirt and shorts. Although practice swords (imitative swords) are used, please take proper care to avoid injuries. Additionally, we kindly ask that children under 140 cm in height do not participate in the experience.

The Introduction of the Instructor of Iai-Juku

Iai Lesson

Toshi Asaka : 22nd Menkyokaiden Master of Muso Jikiden Eishinryu Iai-jutsu Yamauchi Style

He began practicing Iaido in 2010 and was awarded Menkyo Kaiden (full transmission license) and Inka-j? (official certificate of mastery) in 2023, marking his independence as an instructor. He teaches many students not only in Japan but also internationally, including in Kazakhstan, the United States, Canada, Spain, and Brazil. While continuing his daily training, he also studies other traditional sword arts such as Shinkage-ryu and Hoshin-ryu, in addition to Iaido.

While Iaido may seem like a traditional martial art with a high barrier to entry, our experience program is designed to let you enjoy the art in a relaxed and accessible way. Regardless of physical strength, even seniors and women can fully enjoy and begin practicing Iaido. It is also well-suited for maintaining and strengthening the lower body as we age. We invite you to experience the elegance of Japanese martial arts dressed in a kimono.

In addition to Iaido and Kenjutsu, he also leads Aiki Jujutsu Meishin-ryu and teaches many students both in Japan and overseas.
